FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions:
How much does it cost for me to list an ad?
There are four different ad packages for you to select from...
Silver
To purchase the Silver package it will cost $9.99. Your ad will be hosted for 3 months after which it will expire. With this choice you are buying the ability to post up to 4 digital photographs with your ad. Note that posting a picture with your ad increases the chances that a prospective buyer will click on it.
Gold
To purchase the Gold package it will cost $19.99. This is a "Life Time Ad" which means it will be hosted until it sells. If you are posting a service ad instead of a horse ad the service ad has no expiration. With this choice you are buying the ability to post up to 4 digital photographs with your ad. Also, this type of ad is eligible to be listed near the top of the Unordered listings although the order is picked randomly.
Platinum
To purchase the Platinum package it will cost $99.99 for 1 year of unlimited ad posting. This allows you to post as many ads as you like for a period of one year and every ad you post will be a "Life Time Ad" which means it will be hosted until it sells. After the year period is up you will no longer be allowed to post new ads, but old ones you have already posted will still remain active until they sell. So, with this choice you are buying the ability to post an unlimited number of "Life Time" horse and service ads for a full year. Note that since service ads don't "sell" in the sense that a horse ad does, a "Life Time Ad" for a service simply means it never expires unless you choose to remove it. Each listed ad may include up to 4 digital photographs.
Note: All ads are eligible to be listed near the top of the Unordered listings although the order is picked randomly.
How long will my ad run? The period of time the ad is run is dependent on the type of package you used to post it. See the 'How much does it cost for me to list an ad?' question for details on this. If you choose the lowest priced package (Silver), your ad will run for 3 months. Expiration for ads are calculated from the date they were first created with the exception of "Life Time" ads which run until they are sold. Both the Platinum package and Gold package allow posting of "Life Time" ads. You may also choose to delete an ad before that time or mark it as Sold if you wish to simply indicate a horse has already sold without deleting it. An email warning will be sent to you automatically 7 days prior to your ad's expiration.
How do I use/maintian pedigree information for my Thoroughbred horse listing? All horse ads are required to have corresponding pedigree information. The online Thoroughbred Database at PedigreeQuery.com will be used to hold all pedigrees. When you create a new ad for your horse you will be prompted to select a valid pedigree from a drop down list at the bottom. This list is populated based on the name of the horse you specify, birth date and gender. If your pedigree does not already exist there is a link you may click that will direct you to the add page on PedigreeQuery.com allowing you to enter your horse's pedigree information. If you wish to modify your horse's pedigree you may update it on PedigreeQuery.com and all changes will automatically be seen on Thoroughbred Trading Post. If you need to modify the name of your horse and the corresponding pedigree selection you may do so when editing your current ad details.
Are the Stallion Seasons for sale? No. Advertisers that post Stallion Season horses are not selling the actual horse. Instead they are selling breeding rights for you to breed with their horse. Prices listed for these horses represent the price you must pay to purchase the breeding rights. Because Stallion Season listings are not actually horses for sale they do not appear in the listing for "All" horse types.
What are Adoption Horses? Adoption horses are horses the advertiser would like you to adopt. When adoption horse listers set a price for these kinds of listings they are not asking for a mandatory monetary exchange for the horse, but rather they are listing a requested donation price for their cause. Negotiation of details may be worked out by contacting the adoption horse lister. Because adoption horses are not actually horses for sale they do not appear in the listing for "All" horse types.
